Viva Espana!!

Its official. Espana are the CHAMPIONS of Euro ‘ 08!

Champions of Europe!

They have done justice to good football finally. I mean Germany is not a bad team. But honestly speaking, they really don’t deserve to win this. It was really a great match last nite. I enjoyed the match as well as the people who are catching it with me (shirls, zach and calvin). And thank Torres for the great goal. It was a combination of pace, strength, placement and technique. Wonderful goal! And he’s a good-looking chap too!

By winning this Euro, they have sent a signal to World Cup 2010. Behold! Look at the potential of this squad and you will be well amazed at them. The number of rising stars:
-Fernardo Torres – 24 yrs old
-Cesc Fabregas – 21 yrs old
-David Silva – 22 yrs old
-Sergio Ramos – 22 yrs old
-Andreas Iniesta – 24 yrs old

Spain has showed the example that the past would not dictate what they can achieve and also the fact that young people are the potential of the nation. All the best for Spain! See them at South Africa 2010 and Poland-Ukraine 2012! Viva Espana!

this month have been filled with the sports fever. 2 of the sports that I love the most are having big events on their respective calendars. With the European Championships (Euro ’08 ) and Wimbledon on in this month, I am losing much of my sleep to catch the live action. Ytd I witnessED a heartbreak and also (Thank God!) a heartbreak neutralizer. Sharapova was knocked out in the 2nd Round of Wimbledon (oh my gosh, is this even possible?) by some fellow Russian who is ranked more than 150 places below her. I was like devastated? I mean what happened? Injury? Lapse of concentration? I dont know. But I will be still rooting for her. Always and forever…

BUT….the encouraging thing is….Spain got thru into their first major tournament finals in 24 yrs. Praise God. They are going to whack the Germans in the name of justice to beautiful soccer. And to prove that having just pure luck will NOT bring you anywhere. Germans, better watch out…if you dare play like how played against Austria or Turkey, you will NOT be so lucky this time. So better give all you’ve got against the Spainards, at least if you want to win a Euro Cup, win it in style and glory.

On a lighter note, it seems that school re-opening is a good thing for West. People starts to have time for CG and shepherding. Not that they are unwilling to come during the hols, but they are stuck at home. But its time for growth and its time for the 13 schools to be accomplished! Go for it! IT CAN BE DONE, IT WILL BE DONE AND IT SHALL BE DONE!

Hey birthday girl and guy! here are some encouragement for you!

Alexis:
Thanks for being a great support in the leadership team. You have proven yourself to be a very stable and mature leader. Though I know sometimes, things may discourage you, you never fail to pick yourself up. And this is what i call maturity. You have came a long way. From the new believer that is always so afraid of your parents to one who is a testimony to your family and bringing your brother to know God, its amazing. As God lead you, continue to allow Him to mould you into the kind of person you will be in Christ. Looking at your life and growth always makes me feel that serving God so hard is all worth it!

Kenny:
You are one tall guy with a loud burp. But I know you have a bigger and greater passion for God. I have seen Kenny grow up, not literally, but spiritually. I remember when the first time Yunian brought you to church, you are one who is quite blur. I think you have grown in God so much. In the area of new roles you are playing for the group, shepherding your sheep, seein your lead games in a whole grp. Now as you are striving to be a CL in nanhua, continue to hold on to your convictions and passions I believe you can do it if you put in 100%. Jiayou!

discontentment…

people, if u start to read this post, you are accountable to do what its made known to you this day. if you feel that you are not ready. then read it another day. But i tell you, God holds you accountable for what you know…

Never think church activities as an obligation. They are not obligations. If you love God, you will come. Church activities are not social clubs. They are not there for you to skip as and when you like it. Is God not worthy of your time? oh come on…pls…you muz be thinking. “i can also worship God at home rite?” then i tell you that your thinking is ABSOLUTELY wrong. if that’s what God intended, then why did He instituted church and put Acts church in the Bible. Come on, get your act together. Church is not a playground. If you want to play, go somewhere else. Dont mess with what God instituted.

For people who faced school commitments and parental objections, I FULLY empathised with your situations.really! But you have to try your best to ask and ask again. Get your priorities right. God is more than worthy. I was once persecuted by parents. I was once threatened of being demoted of my rank in cca and all CCA points to be taken off me by my CCA teacher. i mean what’s the big deal? Honestly, i dont feel that as a sacrifice. Come on, what did we give? some of our time and some of our rights to God. then in comparison, what did Jesus give? HE GAVE HIS LIFE. mind you! Its really time to give your best and commit.

People, we have to wake up our ideas. Where will we be now if we dont have God? honestly, think abt it..what is God to you? Someone you call upon ONLY when you need Him and someone to be cast aside if you have no time. Unacceptable ok! TOTALLY unacceptable.

I am not angry. I am just discontented the way things are now. Things got to start moving. If not, CG08 cannot be won. God take charge!

Let me end this off with this verse…

Revelations 3:15-16
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

When they say “Its time to go bathe”, they are not trying to naggy. They are just afraid that you catch a cold when you bathe too late

When they say “Come home earlier”, they are not trying to be control freaks. They are at home, worrying about us while we are having fun out there.

When they say “Sleep earlier, dont stay up too late”, they are not trying to irrittate you. They are juz scared that you will fall sick easily in the future if you dont have enough rest.

When they say “Don’t mix around with bad company”, they are not trying to poke their nose into the friendship you have. They are just concerned that you will learn bad things and grow up the wrong way.

When they say “Don’t anyhow spend your money”, they are not trying to stingy about their money. They are trying to teach you the value of thriftiness so that you have enough for the future.

Our parents and grandparents love us too much in the way that they know. Sometimes we get it wrong. But well, this does not deter the fact that they love us and they are God’s gift from us. Thanks mum and dad. And of coz, my grandmother…you are fondly remembered!:)

Day out with God…

I am currently blogging at Pacific Coffee Company at Vivo. Today’s my day out with God. I love my day-outs with God, coz apparently these are my most sane days, with no one to disturb(i mean me disturbing others) and it brings out the most comtemplative side of me.well, if you are thinking, does that side exist? Try putting a bug onto my clothes or my bag and you will get to see it.

Watched Prince Caspian in the morning. I think C.S Lewis is a genius. Using stories to illustrate biblical principles. Watch the show carefully and you will realise that there’s many things to learn from the show:

-Being patient to wait for Aslan to appear (Waiting for God’s timing)
-Trusting in Aslan’s deliverance (God’s promises)
-Not giving in to the tempters to revive the White Witch (Satan’s deception)
-Lucy being the only one who sees Aslan (Those who puts their faith will see God)

And much more to state if I want to. Wonderful story and show. The fighting scene was good too (though not as good as LOTR). Encouraged to watch. I will give 4 stars for it.

Spending time with God makes me think, makes me enjoy, makes me refreshed. The world is full of deception and treachery. Full of pushing factors. Makes you so disillusioned with life, makes you unsure of your identity and purpose.

Slowing myself down makes me realise that i need a higher being in my life to take control and to guide me along. No way i can do this alone! I need to depend on someone and that someone is Jesus.

A note abt Great Commission – I want to win the world for Jesus. Yup, that’s it. No “buts”!

Came back from camp with a new spirit and new zeal to serve God. But know that zeal is not enough, it takes character to finish whatever you have been called for. Indeed this camp have been very different from the previous camps. Its not just the accomodation, not just the food and place. But its more of the depth of the praise and worship atmosphere and the Presence of God dwelling amogst His people.

I have been much ministered to and refreshed by my Heavenly Father. I know I did not make a wrong choice to give my best in serving Him. In fact, serving Him is that best thing that can ever happen to me. Let me summarise what i really learn for the past 4 days.
1) One life to live – Maximise it!
2) If I give God my best for Him, He will give me His best for me.
3) If you are dead serious and desperate for something, there wouldn’t be terms like “far” and “sacrifice”
4) Be a banner, clear enough for Jesus to recognise you!

Camp is a time when our lives are touched by God, but after camp is when we go out there to touch lives FOR God. Today, wont you make a decision to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to walk the distance for Him, to touch lives for Him?

Warriors of West (W.O.W), 13 schools by end this year! Honestly, its not very difficult BUT it takes faith and hardwork. Pour out all your have for God.

Joshua 1:3-9 (New International Version)

3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Great Sea on the west. 5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
6 “Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
1) Commited to give our best to serve God.(v3-6)
2) Commited to obey the Word of God.(v7-9)
Our destiny when we do these 2 things – We will be prosperous and successful. Amen!

hey everyone, i juz came back from student camp in Genting. Man, it was a “back to past” camp as the title of this post suggest. As i went thru first day of the camp, i was reminded of the first few times when i attended our own youth camp. its not the program and the size of the camp, but it was more of the living condition and the cleanliness. Not that i am complaining abt the camp, but more of the fact that this reminder of the past hit me hard.

In the past, the places we play games are muddy and the games are using physical exhaustive. The rooms we sleep in have no air-cons, its juz one big room with 20 plus beds in it with juz 4 ceiling fans. The food provided was economic rice (white rice with a meat dish, a vege dish and misc. dish) and plain water. For teachings, we were all seated in a fenced up place called “The Cage” and the only source of ventiliation is the wind.

Things were not as comfortable as now. But people were still excited to learn and receive from the camp. People were expectant of life transformation in the camp. People were still enjoying the dirty games. Because its never about the program. Its abt the heart.

spent the day out from morning to afternoon. went to accompany my auntie to hospital for some check-up. as i stepped in the hospital, the first thing that came to my mind was that it was 3 and half months ago since i last came here. the last time i went to the hospital was the time i rushed down in cab to try to see my grandma for the last time, but i didn’t make it in time. was reminded that life is just so fragile. din expect my grandma to go off so soon after my grandpa. after all these losses, i made up in my mind that i want to cherish my family. i want them to know God soon and very soon.

after my auntie’s check-up, she ask me,”what if she has cancer like my grandma?” I started to assure her and in me, i thought in my mind that i have God, but she does not. i need to share the Good News soon. I pray that God will give me an opportunity. when i reach home after the check up, spend my whole afternoon pouring over the internet and the notes to prepare for a “Self-image” workshop for the KL student camp. As i was preparing this lesson, i remembered that i used to be very insecure about my own self image and identity. always doing silly things to get attention and getting involved in things that i shld not. thinking back, it was really dumb and meaningless. Spent a total of 2 and half hous compiling the lesson.

at 730, i was supposed to meet up the mismatch team for a long awaited catch up.had a great time sharing with Jinqi abt her life in adults and some of her new thoughts that she had. after dinner, jasmine came to join us and we had a part 2 chatting session with jasmine and jacq. talked abt their grp stuff and shared abt some of conviction and growth point. the main thing was that we all knew that we couldn’t make it without God and that we needed God’s grace in our lives very much. Concluded that we need to grow together and to fulfill the Great Commission together.

Its great to have friends who are share the same conviction as you do. Serving God is never boring. Friends are there to understand and to depend on. Especially friends who follows God with their life. Thanks my friends! you know who you are!:)
