Gifts from my God…

My God is a God that loves to give. And most of the time, we love to receive as well. But many times, we forget to give thanks. Do you know when God feels the happiest? Look at a 5 yr old opening a present that his Dad gave him and you will know the answer. Kids loves everything their parents buy for them, simply because they are amazed by everything around them. And the key thing is that they know how to say “thank you” to their parents. God loves to see us being amazed by what He gives us. Are we like the 5 yr old? Or have we matured too much for our own good?

Another thing that is God given is our talents, skills and personality. I dont know whether you have done these things before, but I definitely have done it. I have asked God many times, how come I am not better looking than what I am now, how come I can’t sing better than what i can now, how come I cant be as charismatic as the flamboyant basketball captain in my sch and many other qns of the same kind. The fact is “God knows best!”. This may sound very cliche..but its true. He knows best! And i have learnt to understand it now. I thot abt it before and I came to realised that if God had make me more handsome, maybe i wont be in church anymore. I will be somewhere out there chasing skirts. God gives according to what we need, not what we seek.:)

A short post on M.S.N last nite. I realised last nite, i was sleeping with a bunch of “dog thieves”. Let me tell you why. It was 3 am at that time. I was getting a lil tired. So I went to lie down at one cosy corner of the bed with a blanket and a pillow. The “dog thieves” were still awake at that time. As it was getting late, the rest were tired as well. So a “dog thief” named eugene ng came to my side and stuck his head to my pillow trying to get his head on the pillow. Then another “dog thief” gabriel gave me an elbow at my ribs (i believe it wasn’t intentional.) Then the 3rd “dog thief” sherwen pounced on me from somewhere and lied down on my thighs. Last but not least, “dog thief 4” named kai’en pulled away my blanket. all these incidents left me cold and spaceless on the bed. in the end, me being the first to lie down, have to shift away due to the acts of all the above mentioned “dog thieves”. I shifted to someowhere near the shoes area believing that i had found a good corner to rest. But while i was asleep, i felt something crawling on me. Lo and Behold, it was my Nemesis on me! the COCKROACH. i freaked out and jumped up. and i sat down on the bed after that. with no more space to sleep. 😦 i am not angry with them…juz find it amusing!hahaha….

Am here to blog abt GOOD TESTIMONIES!!

God has been great to West!Have heard really great testimonies thru-out this week.Be it in the areas of studies and ministries as well.

Most of the people has gotten back their results and I have already heard a few good news from them.

I was asking Alexis abt her results. She told me “Ok lar”. Then she went on to say “I am 2nd in class.” And the good thing is that she got into the subject combination that she wanted.

Ytd I attended on the CG in West C with the Nan Hua and Bukit View people. The Nan Hua people juz got back their results and I talked this gal called Yiting and saw her results. Wow! 7 A1s! And she was 3rd in level. If 3rd in level wasn’t enough, juz to let you know, she is 3rd in level for the SPECIAL stream. The rest of the Nan Hua’s result was not bad as well. Praise the Lord.

During confirmation I was talking ting ting abt her girls when she also told me that Mingyee got 5th in her class and Alicia got 2nd in her class. I was really “wow”ed by all these testimonies that happened.am really encouraged and motivated to study hard for my exams as well.

For ministry side, we also heard good testimonies like Gina having 2 converts on tuesday and Zhengkai having 1 convert from BPGH ytd. Sihui is working hard for her unit’s project “400!”. She alone got 80 plus contacts in a week. Marvellous. Really wanna affirm all of you guys who gave your best out in field and let me remind you this: “God remembers every single effort that you have put in for Him.”. Guys and gals, its all worthwhile to give our lives to God.

Am still waiting for more stories to flood in for the next 4 weeks upcoming. With our P6 outreach and also the special services that’s coming up…CG08!16 schools for Phase 1!

Last but not least, O levels students!Continue to press on!it will be over soon!Study hard and rest enough!Dont fall sick alrite!

Ephesian 5:15
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise.

You don’t always have to learn things the hard way. What you have to do is to live your life wisely.Think carefully thru things before you set out to do something. So that you don’t have to regret what you did. I know God make things happen for a reason. I will learn. I will grow. I will be wise.

Dear God,
I will yet praise you despite bad circumstances. For mistakes as well.I know full well that you are in control.Continue to lead me and guide me thru.I need you…especially at this point of time.I entrust my life to you again.thank you!Amen!

something that i learned today in my time with God…from Ezekiel’s calling…

1) Be obedient (to God’s calling)
This is the very fundermental to being called by God. If you can even passed this stage, you will not proceed to the next. really! think about it, no obedience = not being used by God. always remember, God looks for obedient people, not talented people. being skilful and talented is a bonus. and let me remind you: who gave you your talents? if God can give it to you, what makes you think that He can give to others? So consider youself privileged to be called into a partnership with God.let’s look at Isaiah’s and Jesus’ disciples’ responses:

Isa 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Luke 5:10b-11
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

The key: Dont hesitate. Nothing beats being part of serving the Almighty God. Obey NOW!

2)Be faithful (to what God has asked you to do)
After obeying, we need to be faithful with the tasks that God has given us to do. If its shepherding your sheep, be sure that you give your best to shepherd them. If its leading your group, give ur 110% to do it. If its studying, be good frens with your textbooks and notes. If its reaching out to your frens, make sure they will hear Jesus from your lips. We need to be faithful. When we meet Jesus at the end of the race, Jesus will either call us “Good and FAITHFUL servant” or “Wicked and LAZY servant”. Either of these is for you to choose. If you are smart enough, you should know what to do. remember: God cannot be outsmarted. yes, trick your shepherd if you want, even your CLs and ULs, but wanna trick God…think again.
FAITHFULNESS = FRUITFULNESS as well. No shortcut to unlocking God’s floodgates. Faith and Faithfulness is the key to God’s blessings.

The key: A moment of laziness or procrastination may cause you to miss out the blessings of God. Be wise. Be faithful.

3)Be assured (of God’s presence and God’s victory)
Once you have done the 2 things above, then stay cool. You are given the “Certified by Jesus” chop. No one can touch you, including Satan. Be sure of who your “laoda” is and He is gonna back you up.

Matt 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The key: Just be sure that you have done the above 2 points. WIN-WIN situation!:)

ytd was a pre exams outing with me and my classmates. We went quite a number of places as they are really determined to have some fun before the exams. Firstly, we met at Chinatown MRT at 11pm to eat breakfast together. we went to this place at chinatown to have Dim Sum together. the food was quite nice and we enjoyed it. after that, we headed down to Plaza Sing for a movie, “Daywatch”. It was a Russian show and it was kinda crappy coz most of us does not know what the show is talking abt. the plot is kinda of messy too. snack time after the movie. all of us went down to B2 of PS to grab some snacks. Some bought donuts, some bought crepes, some bought rice balls…but the one we enjoyed the most was the soup. Mind’s cafe was next. played some silly games there. then we headed back to PS to have our dinner. (u realised most of the time we are eating.why?coz we are singaporeans!) after which we took some photos and that was abt all for the day.they are a fun bunch of people to be with as they are crazy. but in this clique, i am the “big bully” coz every single one of them are being bullied by me. I thank God that He placed this people in my life.

jus shared something very interesting with my sheep. When believers are not doing well in God, one common reason that they always give is this:

“I DON’T FEEL GOD”

Then one very good qns is this: Do you think that those are walking well with God always FEELS God in their lives? The very truth is that even pastors and spiritual leaders dont feel God every single day. I dont think Paul in the Bible feels God everyday.I dont think David feels God everyday. You know what that amounts to? You know what that means? it means that no one being feels God every single moment of their lives. That’s why LOVE is a DECISION.Love is NOT a feeling. We make decision to LOVE God everyday even though we dont feel him.

and the funny thing that i told my sheep is this: if God thinks that we need to feel Him everyday, He would not have given us the Bible. He would have given us a machine with a special function. you know what special function and why?

He would have given a machine whereby it will recharge our “feelings” for him. Coz we always say we need to feel Him rite?THIS IS NOT TRUE.

God give us the Bible, His Word, knowing that Man is forgetful and needs reminders. So people, today if you dont feel God, dont whine and say “I dont feel God!”. What you should do is that you should go to your bible and read it. and what does it says?

Psalms 139:13-14
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

John 3:16
16″For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Heb 13:5b
Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

See what the Bible said! So does God loves you even though you dont feel him? THE ANSWER IS: YES HE DOES! So be responsible of your own spiritual life by reading the Word daily alrite?

reached home not long ago.saw a scene that was pretty disturbing to me.sparked off some thots in me as well. was walking past a childcare centre that is located at my void deck. came across this grandfather around his 60s and a toddler aged at most 5 yrs old. i was walking slowly at that time, therefore i am able to catch a bit of their conversation.

Grandpa: “Grandma is sick and she is unable to pick you up today.Today, grandpa will pick you up, ok?

Girl: (starts whining) “I don’t want you to pick me up. I want Mummy or grandma to pick me up.”

Grandpa: “Today, grandma is sick. how can she pick you up when she is sick at home?Come along, be good, ok?tell me where you want to go. Grandpa will bring you there.”

Girl: (squats down and whine louder) I don’t want you.I don’t want you to pick me up. Don’t want!

By this time, i was too far away to hear what the grandfather was telling the child. But this incident sparked off 2 different things in my mind.
the first thing is that, aren’t we like that many times? though we may not do it to our earthly parents or grandparents, but don’t we do this to our Heavenly Father when we choose to disobey? I am not saying the part whereby the grandpa is picking the child part..but i am talking abt the stubborn-ness we have when we want to have it our own way – saying things that really hurts to our Heavenly Father.I really think that the grandpa is hurt by the child’s words. I understand that the child is still young to know what she’s saying, but still…or well…you know what i mean.

Second thing that came to my mind was the upbringing of kids nowadays. I think I am privileged enough to hear and see 3 different kinds of upbringings. First kind was the kind which I have had heard abt – My dad’s generation. My grandma always tell me about how my dad was being “dealt with” when he was naughty. its either the cane or a tight slap across the cheeks. then it was my very own upbringing. I have my own share of caning and scolding as well. But i believe that it was not as bad as my dad’s times. Lastly, its what I just witnessed. The soft way of talking sense, persuading the child and not using much of the cane.

“Spare the rod, Spoil the child.”

Do you agree? As for me, I dont fully agree but yet I wont be one who spares the rod completely. It really difficult to handle child upbringing. What’s the balance? Shall parents be harsh and strict and let the child live in “fear”? or shall parents be nice and use the soft way towards the kid and let the kid climb over your head? Is there really a balance between these 2 ends? I still do not know coz I still yet to have my kids. But will see…
